Robustness and functionality are extremely important to Touratech. The huge Touratech engine guard can efficiently prevent serious damage such as holes in the engine block.
The extra-long construction of the "Expedition XL" ensures maximum protection across the board. Starting at the engine, it goes almost all the way to the rear wheel in one piece, protecting the catalytic converter as well.

However, that's not enough!
Even in the most extreme situations, an additional innovative support between the frame and the rear engine guard ensures optimum stability and a long service life.
Multiple folding ridges in the 4 mm thick aluminum base plate provide maximum strength, while an additional lower stainless steel mounting plate on the motor distributes the force of an impact via 6 bolt points over a large area. These two base plates have no influence on the ground clearance.
Another benefit is that the front of the hood lifts high enough to protect the oil filter and cooler from damage. The bolt heads, which are already recessed, are completely hidden by plastic rails on the lower part of the base plate.
Last but not least, the plastic rails allow the bike to "slide" over pebbles, stones and tree stumps. They also prevent dirt build-up, almost as an afterthought.
In summary: the large Touratech engine cover for the BMW R1200GS is a product that meets the highest requirements and at the same time is an absolute visual highlight!
